Tadese and Beraki Family Home Dedication

Sunday, January 21st was an important day for Belachew Tadese and Genet Beraki - the day they could finally celebrate with family, friends, and Syracuse Habitat on the closing of their own home!

Guests were warmly welcomed into the Tadese and Beraki home yesterday for the Home Dedication Ceremony. A welcome and greeting was given by Suzanne Williams, Executive Director of Syracuse Habitat for Humanity, followed by words of encouragement and prayer by Pastor Tuper of Cornerstone Christian Church. The presentation of a family Bible was performed by Barbara Mattison, long-time Syracuse Habitat volunteer and Family Selection Chair.

Genet Beraki gave a warm thank you to all of the guests, reiterating how grateful her family is for their new home. Nasser Fitwi, another Habitat Homeowner, also made remarks thanking God and the local community for all of the blessings they have helped bestow on his family and his friends.

Refreshments were served after the dedication ceremony, courtesy of the family, and a celebratory cake was enjoyed by all. The Home Dedication was a wonderful reminder of the power of Syracuse Habitat for Humanity volunteers - enabling a family to purchase their own home through a hand up, not a hand out. Congratulations again, Belachew and Genet!
