Giving Tuesday 2017 - Mission Accomplished!
We set a goal to raise $2,000 for our two Hixson Houses, and actually exceeded this amount! We raised a total of $2,772 (and counting!). This amount was raised with the help of 150+ donors. We are overjoyed with the amount of support we received and cannot express our thanks enough.
Where Is My Donation Going?
With these donations, $2,686 will be invested into building materials for our two builds on Hixson Avenue. Here are a few things the money will go towards to help close up these homes for winter:
1. Ceiling insulation
2. Four exterior doors - two for each house
3. Furnaces (allowing us to complete inside work when winter sets in)
The remaining $86 was designated to go towards a new Construction Job Training Program that we are launching in 2018. The program will serve at-risk young people in the community by providing them with access to learn hands-on construction skills and receive life skills support. The pilot group will consist of 20 people, between the ages of 16-26, who will be immersed in this intensive multi-week program. In addition to workforce development, the participants will be required to participate in dialogue sessions and one-to-one coaching to also address individual needs.
A HUGE Thank You!
We could not have done this without community support! Whether you made a monetary donation, encouraged others to join, or expressed your support, we are grateful.
