August 2, 2017

Congratulations to Sean Eaton – our Mr. Habitat 2017 winner! The Mr. Habitat 2017 event raised more than $20,000 for Syracuse Habitat for Humanity’s Women Build program.

“Mr. Habitat 2017 was a lot of fun. I want to thank everyone who worked so hard to put all the pieces together – each one of you added to the success of our event! Thanks to our committee, our sponsors, our supporters, our contestants, all those who donated generously to our silent auction, the staff at Syracuse Habitat, and last but not least our wonderful emcee Michael John Heagerty who helped raise more money than ever before during our Live Auction,” said Suzanne Williams, Syracuse Habitat for Humanity Executive Director.

A heartfelt thank you to our Sponsors: Wegmans; Firley, Moran, Freer & Eassa, CPA, PC; National Grid, Northland Communications; Joan Rothenberg Family Foundation; King + King Architects; and the Home Builders Association of CNY.

And we could not have had a Mr. Habitat contest without our awesome and generous contestants: Ellis Dudley, Director of Amani Bowale (Peace with an African Essence); Noel Baker, American Pride Remodeling and Construction; Sam Brazill of Breakout Escape Games; Aaron Santangelo, Mr. Habitat 2016 winner and Northland employee; Dr. Juan Kassab, DMD, of Grant Blvd Dental; Ken Green who represented the Y Running Program with Y coach Deb Ragonese-Green; Chad Tolhurst, K-9 Kamp Dog Daycare; David Garceau, Syracuse Habitat homeowner who represented a Paint Night Party donated by local artist Evelyn Fiorenza; and 2017 winner Sean Eaton, owner of Core Fitness Training in Western Lights.

Huge thanks to our Mr. Habitat committee members Aaron Santangelo, Kim Turcotte, MaryJo Heitkamp-France, Patti Teska, Scott A. Farnett, and Turissa Campbell.

A special thank you to Christopher Jaime, a talented musician, who provided the music for the evening, and to Madeline Kujabi who displayed her handmade totes with proceeds to help support Starfish, an educational and empowerment program for girls and young women in The Gambia.

Our appreciation goes out to Scott Bayne of TKB Photography who donated his photography talents, to Francis Audio-Visual for donating AV services; and to everyone in our generous community, individuals and companies, that made donations to our silent auction.
