Fundraising Committee
Duties:
coordinate fundraisers
delegate fundraising roles to other Steering Committee members and their represented groups
provide liaison between Fundraising Committee and Publicity Committee - work closely with Publicity Committee to ensure adequate press for events
keep track of who is doing fundraisers, how much is raised at each fundraiser, and make sure the money gets to the proper place (affiliate)
make sure "thank you" notes are sent out and receipts are given to donors

Publicity Committee
Duties:
prepare and distribute press releases, public service announcements, and letters to the editor
prepare and distribute (or provide for others to distribute) flyers, information sheets, pledge cards, and brochures
create a Youth United newsletter and distribute to volunteers, donors, etc.
coordinate with the other committees to ensure proper press coverage for all events, meetings, and presentations

Public Education/Recruitment Committee
Duties:
give Youth United presentations to potential participants, such as school groups, church youth groups, civic groups, etc.
give Youth United presentations to potential donors, such as church congregations, corporations, local businesses, etc.
work with Fundraising Committee and Publicity Committee to be present, or to speak at, different events

Construction Committee
Duties:
schedule youth work crews for each build day
make sure there are enough adult advisors (1 adult advisor per every 4-5 young people) for each build day
schedule lunch crews for each build day
work with the affiliate to schedule training days
work closely with the affiliate to make sure everybody's needs are met

Involvement of Under 16-year olds Committee
Duties:
design and implement meaningful activities for young people under 16 (who cannot be active on the construction site)
provide liaisons and "helpers" for groups of under 16-year-olds participating with Youth United
work with the Fundraising Committee to design fundraisers (and "thank you" notes!) for under 16-year-olds
work with the Publicity Committee to have younger kids design Youth United T-shirts or posters


* It is very important for a representative from each committee to be present at every Steering Committee meeting. Best practice is to have individual committee meetings an hour prior to the monthly Steering Committee meeting and designate a representative to attend.
