Building
Building for Habitat for Humanity
- WHAT
- Builds run Wednesday through Saturday 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Volunteers usually come for the entire day. We've finished building the following homes:
- 205 Elliot Street- This is the SU/ESF build. COMPLETED!
- 227 Elliot Street.- This is the Women Build. This build was sponsored by Carrier, National Grid, the Greater Syracuse Association of Realtors, the NY State Association of Realtors, the four Syracuse area Lowes stores, The Reisman Foundation, AXA-Equitable, the Home Builders Association, Association of Mortgage Bankers, and Wegmans. COMPLETED!
- WHO
- Our houses are built almost completely by volunteers. We have volunteers of all ages and all walks of life. No experience is necessary. Some volunteers come only for one day, others have been with us for years and come several times a week. Some come alone, some come in groups. At the moment we can only accommodate 5 or 6 volunteers at a build at a time so we are not always able to accommodate large groups.
- HOW
- How volunteering for a build works.
- You contact Carl Sharak our building Coordinator via email (volunteercoordinator@syracusehabitat.org) letting him know that you'd like to volunteer.
- Carl gets back to you, with an explanation of how to select your build dates.
- On the day you are scheduled you show up at the build for which you are scheduled and look for our construction manager.
- If you found the experience rewarding contact the Volunteer Coordinator and have yourself scheduled again.
